Tauranga-Ika

Tauranga-Ika was an extraordinarily strong pa built by Titokowarau. Colonel Geoge Whitmore with the Armed Constabulary began shelling it on February 1 1869. Next morning the pa was found to be empty - it appears as if Titokowarau had lost his authority over his army.
