100 Thames Street, Oamaru, Waitaki
Recently redeveloped at significant expense Oamaru now has an outstanding conference and entertainment venue. Opened in 1907 this Edwardian Baroque building was once the municipal chambers. Its splendour has been retained in the redevelopment. The original architect was John Meggett Forrester, son of Thomas Forrester. The redevelopment was by William Ross Architects.
The Opera House is a significant cultural asset for Oamaru.
