76 Kelvin Street, Invercargill, Other
Though the system of provincial government lasted nearly a quarter of a century, only the buildings used by the Canterbury and Southland Provincial Governments survive. The small Invercargill building began life in 1864 as a Masonic hall. After Southland again became part of Otago in 1870, after just nine years of independence, the building had a variety of public uses and is now a shop. The exterior can be viewed at any time.
