14 Wellington Street, Picton, Marlborough
Once again a virtual attraction the National Whale Centre, abruptly closed it's doors in 2017, after building a physical presence here since 2014 - a display and development hub. 2014 was the 50th anniversary of the cessation of commercial whaling in New Zealand waters with the closure of whaling activities in Cook Strait. The National Whale Centre promises, mysteriously, to reopen elsewhere in the future, so like a submerged whale, we shall have to scan the horizon to see where it pops up.
