This project by an energetic bunch of Dunedinites should see them soon housed in a cooperative eco-community a stones throw from the city centre.
Having secured the grounds of the former High Street School in Mornington, the group is constructing preframed homes in a variety of sizes with a variety of shared assets, including a common house created by repurposing the old school main block, to create a small sustainable community. The buildings themselves take the form of terrace housing and construction is aimed at achieving the Passivhaus Standard, the leading international standard for energy efficiency and internal comfort. Completion is expected by the end of 2020.
