Whakamaru Hydro Power Station

Whakamaru built 1949-56 with an output of 100 MW(e) is halfway along the chain of hydroelectric power stations which harness the flow of the Waikato River from Lake Taupo. The sub station at Whakamaru is a major node in the North Island transmission system.
