Kahikatea Crescent ,Matamata, Matamata, Matamata-Piako
This reserve is 0.7,899 hectares in size and is located at the end of Kahikatea Crescent in the south eastern area of Matamata. The reserve is bounded on one side by industrial property, and on the other residential property. The site consists of a long and narrow grassed area and features an extensive native planting undertaken during 1996. The reserve creates a 'buffer zone', screening out the developing industrial area from the residential area. The underlying District Plan zone is Residential. Lot 2 is designated in the Operative District Plan as Proposed Reserve (designation 43). The remainder is identified as Reserve. It should be noted that Lots 47, 3 and 2 are Local Purpose (Plantation) Reserves. History Kahikatea Crescent Reserve was acquired by Council at various times for various purposes. In 1982 lot 47 was vested in Matamata Borough Council followed in 1986 by lot 23. In 1993 lot 3 was vested in Matamata Piako District Council, following the subdivision of land belonging to Mr and Mrs Tidmarsh. Finally Lot 2 was added in 2001.
