89 Hummocks Road, Lake Coleridge, Selwyn
Built in 1911-1914, this early hydro-electric power station has an important place in the history of power generation in New Zealand as the first state hydro scheme, the forerunner of many much larger schemes built in the twentieth century. Huge pipes carry water from Lake Coleridge down the 165 metre drop to the historic power station.
The Lake Coleridge Basin offers a variety of outdoor activities including horse trekking, jet boating, walking and skiing.
