91 Dent Street, Whangarei, Whangarei
New Zealand's northern most city is sub tropical, has a population of about 77,000. The name of the town means 'gathering place of the whales.'
Whangarei is a port of entry and exit for overseas vessels and the Marina in the centrally placed town basin up the Hatea River from Port Whangarei is a popular spot for out of town yachts.
The attractions are many and easily accessed. A large recreation ground is formed upon Mount Parihaka, AH Reed Memorial Park, is a kauri wonderland, and the regions history is showcased at the Heritage Park. While the Hundertwasser Centre is still under construction, a sculpture trail has spring up downtown, Claphams Clock museum is going strong, and the River Bank Centre shows the shows.
