68 Hamilton Road, Hamilton-Cambridge, Other
This prosperous Waikato River town (population nearly 20,000) began life as a military settlement towards the end of the Waikato Wars. The site of the 1864 redoubt is marked. Among the town’s fine older buildings are St Andrew’s Church, 1881, and a former Court House which now houses the town’s museum. Cambridge is deservedly proud of its fine trees. It also prides itself on being the equine centre of NZ.
